Kniterate at Techtextil and Texprocess 2019
September 04, 2019
Hello, Kniterate community!
My name is Anne, and I’m Kniterate’s knit designer and programmer. I live in London, where our offices are and where I have met many of you. Thanks for visiting us!
A little while ago we received an invitation from Amanda Whiteley of Messe Frankfurt to come and visit the amazing double-fair Techtextil and Texprocess, and I had the pleasure to make the most out of the opportunity. The team has asked me to share my experience of the day.
The Techtextil fair is about new yarns, textiles, and machinery used from making to finishing. Texprocess, on the other hand, showcases innovative manufacturing solutions mostly for sewing and embroidery. I saw some really impressive robots and mass production machinery there. Both fairs happen at the same time in the same location: Messe Frankfurt.
This was a short day visit so I tried to make the most of it. I arranged a meeting with our hosts to discuss some exciting topics in the world of textiles. After that, I also met with Marte Hentschel from Sourcebook, a company based in Germany, at their stand ‘Innovation Roadshow’.
The stand was a combination of new and established companies and research institutes that aimed to promote innovative, ethical and environmentally friendly production processes and materials.
Sourcebook curates and organizes a range of platforms focused on innovation such as hackathons and conferences to catalyze the digital and sustainable transformation of the fashion and textile industry. Our cup of tea!
In the afternoon I met with Christian from TVU yarns. TVU, based in the German town of Leutershausen, provides a beautiful yarn stock service with an amazing selection of colors. The goal was to learn more about our respective companies and to discuss the potential for collaborations that can help our customers.
It was a great day with lovely people, projects and materials. Hopefully, you enjoyed this sneak peek of my visit and maybe we’ll see each other at a future Techtextil and Texprocess!
